On a cold month of November 2010, I arrived in this country in snowy Minnesota. I came here with the experience of more than 10 years of professionally teaching fitness through personal training, Pilates and Gyrotonic. My dream was to get into a bigger market with bigger ideas and feel challenged and inspired while keeping learning at the same time.
Studio Sevilla was started in January 2011 with a partner (gone since). We are a movement studio using primarily the Gyrotonic® method but complementing it with other modalities such as TRX or bodyweight training.
Our mission is to help you move better tomorrow compared to today. Until your very last day, you can improve the way you move with fluidity, grace, strength and full range of motion. With our experiences in martial arts, Pilates, dance and personal training we are able to customize the solution for each person, according to their goals and possibilities.
What you will get when you train with us is our full attention and curiosity about who you are, and the firm intention to let you go out of the studio physically better than when you came in.
I have always been active. It started when I was a child, growing up in Belgium. From martial arts to ballet, soccer to windsurfing, I have loved exploring movement. I have been sharing my passion as a personal trainer starting in 1999. I added a Peak Pilates certification several years ago. In 2006 I started my journey in the Gyrotonic Expansion System. What I specially liked about it is how good it made me feel, helping to unwind from other sports, bringing balance and a new level of body awareness.
There is a new field I am now exploring. The last discoveries in neuroscience, and the concept of neuroplasticity among others, offers outstanding applications in performance enhancement, rehabilitation, and posture improvement. Even if you don’t consider yourself an athlete, we believe life is a full-contact sport with its specific challenges everyday.
A few things about me:
- English is…my third language. I am a Spaniard, born and raised in Belgium. That gives me a weird French accent that doesn’t match my name. This will save me so many explanations.
- I am not a gourmet. I tend to eat functional. After a workout, I know I want protein with a bit of carbs. Whatever fits in those categories.
- I love shopping at the Wedge. Best food in my neighborhood.
- I’m an eternal student, seeking to continue learning for the next 30 years, at least.
Join me now and be part of the journey. We’ll have fun 🙂Miguel Sevilla
